Get free federal and CA tax return preparation and e-filing from our friendly, IRS-certified volunteers. We're generally available by appointment only. So please schedule your appointment for as early as you believe you will have your tax forms available. This will assist us in helping as many taxpayers as possible in 2026.

While we're here to help everyone, we prioritize appointments for taxpayers 60 and over, per TCE program guidelines. To ensure you get an appointment, we encourage you to schedule your appointment as soon as you have all your tax documents available. If you are eligible for a tax refund, the earlier we file your return, the sooner you will receive your refund. Additionally, if a tax payment is due, your appointment date does not restrict the timing of your payment. We can schedule your payment up until April 15, 2026. This will also help us to assist as many taxpayers as possible.
To use our service, your total yearly income must be less than $200K if filing as single and $250K if filing jointly or Head of Household. Also, we aren't certified by the IRS to handle every tax situation. A list of common Out Of Scope Tax Situations is provided in the resources below. If you have a less common tax situation, please review this out of scope listing before making an appointment. Please give us a call if you have any questions regarding whether your tax situation is in-scope for us.
To make your visit as quick and easy as possible, we highly recommend completing your information intake form (13614), pages 1-3, before you arrive. You can find an Intake Form for download and printing. You can also get 13614 forms at our site, but please arrive at MCCC at least 20 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to give yourself plenty of time to fill it out.

If your return is a bit more complex (e.g., more than 15 pages of tax documents) or you needed more than an hour appointment in the past, please schedule two back-to-back appointments to avoid having to come back to us to finish your returns.
